As a teacher-librarian, it is my mission to create an accessible and inviting library that supports the needs of students, staff, and parents of my school.  I will workto promote critical, responsible, and ethical users of information from print and non-print materials.  I will also work to foster a love of reading in DCES students to grow lifelong learners.

Destiny is a free, hosted virtual bookshelf that provides a friendly online environment for students and teachers to search, read, and manage DeSoto Central Elementary School's Follett eBooks, library collection, and Lightbox books.

Storyline Online

Reading aloud to children has been shown to improve reading, writing, communication skills, logical thinking, concentration, and general academic aptitude, as well as inspire a lifelong love of reading.

Factbook

The World Factbook provides information on the history, people, government, economy, geography, communications, transportation, military, and transnational issues for 267 world entities. The Reference tab includes maps of the major world regions, as well as Flags of the World, a Physical Map of the World, a Political Map of the World, a World Oceans map, and a Standard Time Zones of the World Map.

BB

Includes book-related activities, a listing of all books, and online videos.

RWT

Provides educators and students access to quality practices and resources in reading and language arts.

Stacks

Sign in to the online website for kids about books, reading, authors, games. Kids connect to books through online friends in their community profiles.

Seuss

Features games based on Dr. Seuss' books, extensive biographical information on the man behind them, and printables.

magnolia

Magnolia is a collection of databases perfect for research. Another great feature is Novelist which allows you to search for fiction books or authors you might enjoy!
